I guess I shouldn't be surprised when CROCF releases good news about increasing their resources and the market doesn't respond positively. Getting to be the norm in this cyclical bear market for the miners. Sure would like to see that turn around this summer.

Not a bad financial report for 1st qtr 2014. CROCF produced a mountain of gold, but to capitalize on it they need to go much further in reducing their costs (direct and indirect). Even though they greatly improved their All In sustaining Cash Costs per ounce sold ($) over the 2013 number, the current $1,307 is still way too high. Even if the POG improves in the next two quarters it doesn't look like they will make profitability. Heaven forbid if gold turns south from here and over any prolonged period of time.

Would be nice if the Plunge Protection Team were on the side of the metals and miners for once. Maybe in my life time, one could only hope. lol

Be interesting to see. The Crock managed double digit gains while swimming against a pretty stiff current, before they knocked it back down to 8%. Nicely green on the day. Not many miners can say THAT LoL!

I like the strength observed in the CROCF share price since the beginning of the year. It's currently sitting just below the 50 dma of $0.21. Need to build up some more pressure and then bust through that resistance level on moderate to high trading volume. Could be an interesting next week or two ahead of us as the earnings reports wind up.

bobhwang, thanks for the reply. I haven't heard anything on any impending huge property tax increases, at least on residential properties. Sure was a tough day for CROCF, and most miners in general. Looks like maybe folks decided to start moving into defense stocks in case sanctions escalate with Russia and result in war breaking out in the Ukraine. Just more uncertainty that people need to deal with.

bobhwang, do you foresee this new gold backed currency to be in the system by 2016. or later? I'm asking because the dollar is starting to take some hits (no below 80.0) and once it goes below 75.0 I think the rate of depreciation will pick up significantly. This could occur as early as next year (or sooner if Russia or China decide to start unloading their US dollars from their reserves in a massive way to then buy more hard assets.

P.S. CROC looks to be reacting positively to golds recent price moves to the high $1300's.

bobhwang, I would look forward to seeing China create a reserve currency that is backed by gold. When the US went off the gold standard in the 1970's it was a big mistake and the beginning of the end imo. Future generations will pay for it dearly too.

The huge loss came from the impairment they had to take when the World Gold Council changed their long term gold price targets. They had a huge gain the year before when they upped them, then reversed it when they moved it back down - it's just IFRS accounting mumbo jumbo. Look at the cash flow.

Greetings bobhwang, hope you find things well in this new year. I was wondering what your thoughts are currently with CROCF and the mining stocks in general. I'd like to think (hope) that we're soon going to see a retracement start from the last 2 years of downside.

I guess I'm unclear of how the POG will react if the FED keeps to their latest plan on decreasing the QE and losing their ability to contain a low interest rate. Maybe folks will then start talking of increased inflation pressures which might then favor an increased gold price.

I don't think many have noticed....most read the headline, maybe the first paragraph. The news on the hedge was bigger than the production headline. This quick move impresses me. I like the structure here with a very big shareholder working closely with mgmt. That from what I have seen is the biggest problem with these Canadian based miners....mgmt that is way too far removed from equity and equity ownership. Seizing the moment at 1350 to strategically take out almost all the bank debt. These guys I'm sure were instrumental in pushing through the convertibles, but I don't mind that too much in the bigger picture of things. Croc is now well positioned to get through this hellish downturn.

Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting Co. Ltd., an integrated base metals producer, and William Resources Inc., an international gold producer. He also serves as a director of several public companies in the resource sector.
Bruce Humphrey, P.Eng., Director Bruce Humphrey is a mining engineer with over 30 years experience with such major companies as Inco, Cominco and Noranda. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Desert Sun Mining Corp. from October 2004 to April 2006 where he contributed to the successful development of the Jacobina Mine in Brazil. From May 1998 to May 2004, Mr. Humphrey served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Goldcorp Inc. during the re-development of its high-grade Red Lake mine. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Peter Tagliamonte, P.Eng., Director Peter Tagliamonte is a professional mining engineer and also holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, at the University of Western Ontario. He is currently the President and CEO of Sulliden Gold, the former President and CEO of Central Sun Mining Inc. and former Chief Operating Officer of Desert Sun Mining Corp. where he was responsible for the development of the Jacobina Mine in Brazil into a 4,200-tonne-per-day mining operation. Mr. Tagliamonte has over 25 years of progressive managerial experience building and operating mines worldwide, notably in Central and South America. In 2005, he received the Mining Journal's "Mine Manager of the Year" award in recognition for his work in the mining sector.

Stan Bharti has over 25 years of experience in operations, public markets and finance. Over the last ten years Mr. Bharti has been involved in acquiring, restructuring and financing. He is a Professional Mining Engineer and holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from Moscow, Russia and University of London, England. From 2002 to April 2006, Mr. Bharti was a director and past president of Desert Sun Mining Corp. (which was acquired by Yamana Gold Inc. in 2006). In addition, Mr. Bharti is a director of several public and private companies.
