I must have been hungry! Everyone knows what a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich is.

I had one of my lucid dreams a couple nights ago about cooking one.

In the dream I was in a giant cafeteria with a huge professional grill. Do it yourself style. Two heavy iron spatulas to toss the ingredients. I have never made one and have no clue where that one came from.

There was a large bowl of thin sliced beef on the left. Also four pots of stuff on the back warmer. Onion, green pepper, etc. in some kind of broth with slotted ladles.

On the right hand side was a big pile of cheese slices. Real soft, like Velveeta, and some crusty hoagie buns.

It was very vivid and I have been able to revisit it several times with minor variations.

More tornados. Three giants that were tearing up a downtown area full of high rise buildings. I spotted a door at ground level that was unlocked and began waving people in. I collected 18 people and we started searching for somewhere safe to hide.

I told them to search for a restroom as that would be re-enforced by pipes and stuff. We climbed some stairs and found a lobby that was mostly made of glass with exterior glass windows. We did find a bathroom and I had the folks start collecting water.

Dream ended.

I was back in the military but not on a base. It was a nice dinner party with a bunch of officers at a private home. I stepped out for a smoke and saw a bunch of ICBMs launch in the distance. I ran in and told everyone to call in to their command. They would not respond to my urgency. I went back outside and saw an incoming missile. It impacted maybe 10 miles away. In my dream I felt my body blow away in an instant without any pain and my conciousness remained for about 2 seconds then it was just nothing.

Kind of cool;

I was at some kind of High School talent contest and watched two groups of kids sing original songs they had written.

The compositions were very good.

How can your brain do that? It was very real and for sure no music I ever heard so not a memory.

Same thing happened a few years ago when I dreamed of my sister and some girlfriends singing a cool song.

These felt like real time events and were very pleasant.

I write songs and it takes many revisions before I am satisfied. How can a dream make a pleasing piece with no concious effort.

BTW it was not my kind of music. I enjoyed the songs but for sure was not my style.

I had a serious fever from pneumonia a few years ago.

Rather than sinister or vivid, I would say delusional is a better description, unless your wife and adult children really are furry monsters trying to kill you - while, at the same time, asking you to protect them.

I sure hope delusional is the right description. At least then I can sleep safer. The reality of that would be frightening...

Dang it B4! Now I have to sleep with my foil hat and gun!

It would be interesting to hear from folks who had dreams while suffering a fever. Were they more vivid? Were they more sinister?

Kind of cool,

Imagine a bay surrounded by palm trees. A group of animals that look like 4 foot long salamanders crawl out of the water to sun on the shoreline. They are snapping at each other but it just seems like display. They do not really bite each other.

I was able to walk up and bang one on the head.

I gutted it and it had pretty normal organs inside. The flesh was pretty stinky and mushy though. It did not seem edible.

The whole scene seemed prehistoric and I could not determine whether the water was salt or fresh.

Two more to report.

The first was walking in a desert and spotting a Gila monster lizard. I never saw one in real life so I walked over for a closer look. Before I knew it it leaped off the ground and engulfed my left index finger. It hurt like hell and I could not get it off. It did not have fangs or anything just jaw muscles so strong I could not pry it off.


Second was a school dream when I was taking a test and all there was was a sheet of obscure diagrams that I was supposed to do something with. No instructions. I looked around and students at the other desks had heads down and were busy writing some kind of answer. It was a long dream with a four page test. Three pages were things I understood and felt confident that I answered them well. When time was up I turned my test in and apologized to the teacher that I was not prepared for the diagram. I said we had never covered the weird symbols in class. Rather than explaining, she told me that she had over heard me talking shit about her. I was horrified since it was one of my favorite teachers from 30 years ago.

This was a pretty cool dream last night. Very epic in length.

I was walking with a group of 5-6 American indians through scrubby grassland. They were modern enough to have firearms.

We came across a small group of buffalo that stampeded because we were both surprised. The dust got so thick that the indians were firing point blank at shadows and did not kill anything.

When the dust settled we found the chief was dead and his heart had been removed. We started carrying the body and met another buffalo that could speak.

The buffalo told us he had taken the chief's heart in order to gain the power of speaking.

He told the indians that they had forgotten their history and he was there to refresh their memory.

The buffalo told a long history about the "first people" who came out of the earth. He also spoke about a race of "ant people" that still lived underground and "lizard people" that live in the sky.

At the end the buffalo told the indians to kill him and place his heart in the chief's chest and the chief would live again.

Sadly I woke up at that point but lay there for a long time trying to keep as many details as possible.

Well, here's a dream a relative sent to me today:

In the nightmare I found myself nude in bed, and I was looking at a mirror on the ceiling, and I discovered that I am a Negro, and I'm circumcised!

Quickly I sat up, found my pants and looked in the pockets to find my driver's license photo and it was that same color, black.

I felt myself being very depressed, downcast, sitting in a chair.

But it's a wheelchair!

That means, of course, besides being black and Jewish, I'm also disabled! I said to myself, aloud 'This is impossible! It's impossible that I should be black and Jewish and disabled!'

'It's the pure and holy truth', whispers someone from behind me.

I turn around, and it's my boyfriend.

Just what I needed!!! I am a homosexual, and on top of that, with a Mexican boyfriend.

Oh, my God .... Black, Jewish, disabled, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, drug addict, and HIV-positive!!!

Desperate, I begin to shout, cry, pull my hair, and Oh, nooooo... I'm bald!!!

The telephone rings; it's my brother. He is saying, 'Since mom and dad died, the only thing you do is hang out, take drugs, and laze around all day doing nothing. Get a job, you worthless piece of crap .... Any job!'

Mom? Dad? Nooooo ... Now I'm also an unemployed orphan!

I try to explain to my brother how hard it is to find a job when you are black, Jewish, disabled, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, are a drug addict, HIV positive, bald, and an orphan, but he doesn't get it.

Frustrated, I hang up. It's then I realize I only have one hand!!! With tears in my eyes, I go to the window to look out. I see I live in a shanty-town full of cardboard and tin houses! There is trash everywhere.

Suddenly I feel a sharp pain near my pacemaker ..... Pacemaker??

Besides being black, Jewish, disabled, a fairy with a Mexican boyfriend, a drug addict, HIV positive, bald, orphaned, unemployed, an invalid with one hand, and having a bad heart, I live in a crappy neighborhood.

At that very moment my boyfriend approaches and says to me,

'Sweetie pie, my love, my little black heartthrob, have you decided what you are going to wear to Washington to see Obama?

Say it isn't so!!! I CAN handle being a black, disabled, one armed, drug- addicted, Jewish homosexual on a pacemaker who is HIV positive, bald, orphaned, unemployed, lives in a slum, and has a Mexican boyfriend, but please,

... please don't tell me I'm a Liberal!!!!

I have them all the time. Dreams of folks fallin from high places or falling myself.

I have many that are sad and many are joyful. When you can remember any please give us a report.

They are just dreams with little import but fascinating studies on personality.

Last night I had to crawl across a railroad bridge with my car keys in a back pocket of hospital scrubs. They were always in danger of falling so I only had one hand to use. Pretty weird!

I enjoyed some frotterage with a female stock clerk at a grocery store. Hardly a vision but I am curious what you characters dream about.
