Hi Auggie!
Today is Sunday, September 8, 2002.
Did I misunderstand your question?
We will know soon if SI will rise like a Phoenix from their maintenance session.
What day is today?
<font color=green>August</fonts>
the chart for EXPE is relatively bullish. Triple top break
http://www.stockcharts.com/webcgi/Pnf.asp?S=expe&N=A&T=on
However, the pullback was more than is usually acceptable for a bullish setup.
Either way, I think that it is wise for me to stay away from EXPE for now.
I agree with you that this isn't the "normal" way to try to negotiate an agreement....probably why they're being sued.
Maybe there was some clause in their contract that they'd be an exclusive travel partner, and now AMZN has added more travel links? I haven't followed this company for very long, so I'm just making a *guess* as to why they seem to be backing out of their agreement.
I saw that. But, why would they breach the original agreement in the first place unless they had to? Negotiating a poor deal isn't usually a good excuse to be in breach of contract, legally speaking.
Cool !
We will know soon if SI will rise like a Phoenix from their maintenance session.
I lost a PM I had just finished typing to you when it went down... hadn't noticed the time.
It sounds like it is a dispute in the way their agreement is structured with AMZN.
Maybe cashflow issues?
Maybe..but from the article:
"said that Expedia breached the contract by "refusing to pay the amounts owed to Amazon.com unless Amazon.com renegotiated" its agreement to offer Expedia's services"
well, groundhog day it is.
what piques my interest that they haven't paid. Not the amount. Maybe cashflow issues?
Hi JXM,
I kinda like this thread best.
There is something about the title of the other thread that gives one pause.
and here I am without an EXPE short
Hi JXM. This is my *first* post on IHUB!
It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit might influence the trading of EXPE. IMO, it probably won't make much of a difference. At some time before Monday's trading, I'm sure EXPE will make some sort of generic reply to this suit designed to minimize this lawsuit.
If EXPE has an awful day on Monday....where do you think "support" for EXPE might be, considering it is priced now for maximum pain at 50 for options expiration this month?
and here I am without an EXPE short...Damn!

that's what I am thinking. If it can hold through the next down move, it is a clear buy.
one of those imponderables...<g>
<grub>
spike...exactly...it could very well form yet another base, i like to see that, one right on top the other.
of course the overall market could put a crimp in that base, and i would say if it holds up in spite of another big market sell off, it's a keeper.
(gotta run...need to go to the gym, wedding later today....enjoy your weekend)
:)
hey, I forgot that I made this thread
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=1188
should we be at GD or the Galapagos?
what I like is that nice spike up on volume and then the consolidation into a nice triangle.
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=tern,uu[w,a]dhcayiay[db][pb50!b200!b30!b20][vc60][iub14!...
I may be buying some soon. They also have some convertible bonds out there that are pretty dramatically discounted that I may look into.
ok, so moving right along wrt tern...
a really nice base on that one, jorj...i like to see about 2 months consolidation...'course i like it even more if it's a $10 stock...
<g>
you know, one thing i was noticing the other day...i rarely watch cnbs, but have been the past week, it's really amazing the number of single digit stocks that are running by on the ticker....quite incredible when you consider some of the symbols.
SI is now offline...
Let's see if they come back with a facelift
What did you scalp on friday Sherry ?
that was some nice easy money day for longs ...
They say we're young and we don't know
We won't find out until we grow
Well I don't know if all that's true
'Cause you got me, and baby I got you
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned, our money's all been spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always around
Don't let them say your hair's too long
'Cause I don't care, with you I can't go wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won't let go
I got you to love me so
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
[I just HAD to do that] I feel better now
:D
8:50AM: The pre-market tone remains favorable with the S&P 500 currently trading 5.4 points above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 PMI is up 10.29 points. Sears (S) is in the news this morning with the announcement that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Lands End (LE) for $62 per share in cash, or approximately. $1.9 bln. The transaction is expected to be slightly dilutive to break-even in 2002 and 2003 and significantly accretive in 2004. Sears says the transaction does not alter its outlook for the year. Out of Barron's: positive comments on CCU and AEP with a fund manager favorable on CYTC, ITRI, JDEC, FDP, SNDK. No economic data due to be released today.
Now you tell me.
And the market closed down as expected.
8:40AM: The futures are pointing to a higher open....PPI was just released. It fell 0.2% in April, much lower than the +0.4% consensus; the core rate rose 0.1%, in line to a tenth lower than most estimates. Though the total PPI figure was much lower than expected, the core rate is the more reliable indicator and was pretty much in line with market expectations. This is a slight positive for the market but is unlikely to have much impact given the lack of inflation concern at present. The futures have improved a bit since the release, especially the Nasdaq....
Last night, the dollar fell against the euro and the yen on speculation that the US recovery may take longer than expected....Overseas, European and Asian markets were mostly lower....Current indications: S&P 500 futures are +4.60, or 5.6 pts above fair value. Nasdaq 100 is +10, or 13 pts above fair value. Nas 100 PMI +5.11.
I could start something if you want.
Fill 'er up, sir?
That certain person is not currently posting there, you know. Look at this as your vacation opportunity. Get the aggression out of your system. Instead of kicking Gloop around, you can kick me around.
I guess I should go to the Sweet Science thread about now<g>
Here is my prediction: Tyson is going to get so frustrated by Lewis that he ends up getting DQ'd. This will be Tyson's last fight as he will be banned after his performance.
I know, I know, not much of a stretch, but.....
as good a guess and prediction as i've heard from anyone
tough call. I think that Lewis will keep tyson outside and frustrate Tyson enough that he screws up. I think that Lewis is going to do his best to humiliate Tyson.
I think that I would rather drink gasoline.
Come on over to SMBR. A fight every post on the post.
ahhhh, that....I haven't been posting on the SI thread either. I haven't seen a fight in quite some time. I am feeling a bit deprived.
Do you like finks? I know you better than that. I'm sure you don't.
Let me say this about that. The American people have a right to know whether their President is a crook. Your President is not a crook.
He's a pervert.
no....it was just a momentary thing....on to other mindbenders now..
:)
heck no
i mean that jxm never posts on his boxing thread anymore
hehehe

8:50AM: The market is poised for a very strong start to the session with the earnings report from Cisco (CSCO) last night the main impetus. CSCO beat the consensus estimate by $0.02 and while revenue was slightly below expectations, it came in with better than expected gross margins. The company is increasing its market share as its revenue growth rate was 2% while competitors revenue growth rate fell roughly 40%. The impact on the market has been far and wide but there also have been other positive calls in the tech arena that has added to the bullish tone. Prudential has upgraded Hewlett Packard (HPQ); CIBC upgraded both PMC Sierra (PMCS) and Applied Micro Circuits (AMCC) while ANADIGICS (ANAD) has guided higher for Q2. The S&P 500 futures are 13.8 points above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 PMI is up 43.25 points.
are you suggesting that some posts need to be deleted?
Too late, I already outed you Mr. Clinton
Hey, this GOOD! A WAG here too! And don't tell Mon Cherie who I am. I think the air of mystery will definitely help. What's going through her mind now is "I know this charming, handsome romantic stranger, but I can't place him."
And where's that psychiatrist you promised me?
Oh, but you do. What you don't know is science fiction.
The Mystery Man
(Don't you LOVE mystery?)
Hell no, it ain't safe for you here. You know how there are points for dissing you in the wag? Well, there are double points on Ihub.
BPCOMP getting very close to turning down. Now at 49. It
will take a significant rally to raise the BP level, IMO.
Any rally from here is likely to be a perfect setup for
more distribution and will make generating sell signals
easier.

COMP 20pt chart. I am thinking that we bounce to between 1650 and 1680 here.

Market thoughts
I believe that we are going to have a little rally here. I also believe that this is a shortable rally. We have not had a capitulation yet and a downtrend like this doesn't end with a whimper.
I believe that the attacks of 9/11 interrupted the bottoming process. We were on our way down, but the attacks drove the stockmarket down too far before the market had enough time for real mending. I believe that the next big selloff is "the" bottom. But I also think that it is going to happen sooner rather than later.
COMP daily with notes.
