I'd suggest you Google Stock Reverse Splits and you will find many opinions and definitions.
Reverse Splits happen for a wide variety of reasons.
Before buying into a Company before the split, you should research the past history of the Stock and for what reason they are planning on doing a Reverse Split.
Some Companies will do a Reverse Split to move up into a higher level exchange, these usually have the best opportunities.
Hope this helps for a starter.
Before buying and investing your hard earned money do your DD and if you like what you see, Buy, if you don't like what you see take a pass.

Many times after a Company announces a Reverse Split their price will go way down and sometimes into oversold territory, and therein lies opportunities.

I gotta start somewhere, so bear with me!

I am brand spanking new to trading and I have been immersing myself on the net trying to self educate myself. As you know the NET is full of people with opinions that they think is worth alot, but I am searching for genuine resources to accelerate my learning curve so I can start trading ASAP.

The catalyst for my efforts is that #1-a close friend of mine is involved with a company that is about to do a reverse merger to go public and at a 10-1 reverse split. So I am trying to figure out how to profit from such a thing. #2- Being self-employed for the past 6 years I am at a point that I need to do something new, and trading has caught my interest.

SO...I apologize to dump this on your board, but the iHUB is so far one of my faves for sincere info and I am trying to get some help finding either webinars, books, whatever that can educate me to the vocabulary and techniques to start trading now, and to make a serious effort of becoming a trader.

I realize I may get slammed for being a newb and putting this here, but I really couldnt find an appropriate board to post for help just yet, and this all started with me finding out about a reverse split. So, I hope someone can direct me to the approriate resource. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Nasdaq reverse splits are usually a lot less volatile than the pennies. I was in IPII, ICGE, TIWI and LH. They all did pretty good. I had a few others I can't remember also. CMGI didn't burn'em up after it did one but it didn't tank either. I've got it on radar and going to do some DD on it. Usually when they do the RS to stay on the Nasdaq then they have a plan or something up coming that they believe will keep the share price stable.

(NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that a special committee of its Board of Directors has approved a 1-for-5 reverse split of its common stock, following approval by the Company's stockholders on April 7, 2008. The reverse stock split will be effective at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time, on June 30, 2008. Mindspeed's common stock will begin trading on The NASDAQ Global Market on a split adjusted basis when the market opens on July 1, 2008, under the temporary trading symbol "MSPDD." The trading symbol will revert to "MSPD" after approximately twenty trading days.

The reverse split will reduce the number of shares of Mindspeed's common stock outstanding from approximately 119.1 million to 23.8 million. Proportional adjustments will be made to Mindspeed stock options and other equity incentive awards, equity compensation plans, outstanding warrants and convertible notes. The number of authorized shares of common stock will be reduced from 500 million to 100 million.

Information for Stockholders

Upon effectiveness of the reverse stock split, Mindspeed stockholders will receive one new share of Mindspeed common stock for every five shares held. Registered holders of Mindspeed common stock holding stock certificates will receive a letter of transmittal with instructions for the exchange of stock certificates. No action is required by stockholders holding Mindspeed common stock in book-entry form. Immediately following the effective date of the reverse stock split, a new Direct Registration System statement will be sent to book-entry form stockholders reflecting the number of shares held following the reverse stock split. Stockholders with brokerage accounts should contact their brokers to receive instructions. Mellon Investors Services LLC will act as the exchange agent and can be contacted at 1-800-853-4954.

Mindspeed will not issue fractional shares as a result of the reverse stock split. The exchange agent will aggregate all fractional shares and arrange for their sale on the open market shortly after the effective date. Following the sale, stockholders will receive a cash payment from the exchange agent in an amount equal to the stockholder's pro rata share of the total net proceeds of these sales. Stockholders with shares in brokerage accounts should contact their brokers with any questions as some brokers may have different procedures for payment of fractional shares.

Information for Holders of Convertible Notes

Due to the reverse stock split, the conversion price for Mindspeed's 3.75% convertible senior notes due in November 2009 will be adjusted from $2.31 per share of common stock to $11.55 effective July 1, 2008. Holders of convertible notes may contact Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., the trustee, with any questions.

According to this pre14c there is a JPCI shareholder meeting to vote on the reverse merger May 28th at 10:00...could hear something anytime following...they've had plenty of time to sort details on this one...

JPCI doesn't appear to be taking any cash for the shell/company...only 25,000$ for legal expenses...instead they are holding common shares for the ride...seems like they think it will be going up from here...

This one could get interesting...there will be a 1 for 2 reverse split on the JPCI shares..but the JPCI insiders also will get their shares split and they seem to be fine with it...

BNYN Chart You can see the dramactic drop once R/S announced, then the R/S was done and price went all the way down to .0009, and that's the area that we need to hit to make coin. Price today is now .0016 almost a 50% gain
