Like many other stock market investors, I am somewhat lazy and want the alleged experts to help me decide what stocks to buy. Unfortuately, many of these experts have turned out to be frauds. I have subscribed to numerous services including Louis Rukeyser, Michael Murphy's Technology Investor, Louis Navellier's Blue Chip Stocks, Morningstar, Bob Brinker's Markettimer, Value Line. Disappointedly, I have not found my Market Guru. For example, Louis Navelier, who appears on CNBC as Maria's expert has netted the following result: Started subscribing November 1, 2000 and I have kept a record of every buy and sell. Results: -46.71% on sales, current portfolio is -10.04% as of yesterday. Navellier recommends buying 30-35 of his stocks. Michael Murphy from August 25, 2000 to present -24.44% on sold positions, current portfolio -41.62% Lucky for me I didn't follow these guys religiously in my own portfolio. Now, foolishly I am paying for these subscriptions and hope to buy low and sell high based on their recommendations. Navellier seems to have a philisophy of buy high and sell low. Murphy seems to buy high and hang on until your stock drops to single digits ie. JDSU Uniphase buy 12/22/00 @ $40.94 3/1/02 @ $5.00 or Cisco buy 8/31/00 @ $68.62 3/1/02 @ $14.53 or Corning buy 3/16/01 buy @ $23.20 3/1/02 $6.84 or Oracle 8/31/00 $45.47 (post split) 3/1/02 $16.11. Qualcom buy 11/16/01 @ $60.33 3/1/02 $34.27. I could give many more examples. Does anybody have similar results out there? Don't you feel you could lose money on your own without the help of stock market gurus? Any comments?
