Cirrus Logic Reports Q1 Revenue of $282.6 Million

Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), a leader in high-precision analog and digital signal processing components, today posted on its investor relations website at http://investor.cirrus.com the quarterly Shareholder Letter that contains the complete financial results for the first quarter fiscal year 2016, which ended June 27, 2015, as well as the company's current business outlook.

"Q1 was a great quarter for Cirrus Logic. We delivered solid financial results as demand for our smart codecs and amplifiers pushed revenue above the high end of our guidance," said Jason Rhode, president and chief executive officer. "FY16 looks to be an outstanding year with a significant increase in revenue being driven by new products. We expect strong demand for our audio and voice solutions to fuel additional growth in FY17."

Reported Financial Results - First Quarter FY16

-- Revenue of $282.6 million;

-- GAAP and non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 47 percent;

-- GAAP operating expenses of $82.5 million, which included a one-time $12.5 million benefit from the sale of certain LED patents; non-GAAP operating expenses of $79.9 million; and

-- GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.50 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.54.

A reconciliation of the non-GAAP charges is included in the tables accompanying this press release.

Business Outlook - Second Quarter FY16

-- Revenue is expected to range between $290 million and $310 million;

-- GAAP gross margin is expected to be between 45 percent and 47 percent; and

-- Combined GAAP R&D and SG&A expenses are expected to range between $96 million and $100 million, which includes approximately $9 million in share-based compensation and $7 million in amortization of acquired intangibles.

Cirrus Logic +7.5%; Barclays upgrades, sees iPhone content gains

"We believe CRUS will see content in the iPhone 6S next year increase and we believe CRUS' next-gen 55nm smart codec will integrate a low-power DSP to enable 'always-on voice,'" writes Barclays, upgrading to Overweight and hiking its target by $10 to $28.

Barclays sees Cirrus' chip content rising to $2.50-$3.00 from $2 in current iPhones, and also thinks its next-gen smart codec will likely go into Samsung's Galaxy S6. The Moto X and some other Android phones have already integrated always-on voice.

The adoption of Cirrus' smart codec/DSP solution by Android OEMs would represent a fresh challenge for Audience (NASDAQ:ADNC), which offers its Always-on VoiceQ solution to enable touchless device waking.

A year ago, Barclays was among the first to report Cirrus didn't have an audio amplifier slot in the iPad Air.

Cirrus, which gets about three-quarters of its sales from Apple Inc, said it expected second-quarter revenue of between $175 million and $195 million. Analysts on average were expecting revenue of $185.9 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. [at Barrons.com] - Shares of mobile chip maker Cirrus Logic (CRUS), a prominent supplier to Apple (AAPL), are down $1.35, or 5.6%, at $22.62, after the company this afternoon reported fiscal Q1 revenue and earnings per share that topped analysts' expectations, and forecast revenue revenue this quarter of below consensus and also projected a decline in gross profit margin. Gross margin came in at 49%. CEO Jason Rhode said the company was "pleased" with the results, and said Cirrus "experienced strong dmeand for our custom and general market portable audio products." He said the company has a "robust pipeline of innovative products." Cirrus Logic Reports Q4 Revenue of $149.7 Million and Full FY14 Revenue of $714.3 Million

Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), a leader in high-precision analog and digital signal processing components, today posted on its investor relations website at http://investor.cirrus.com the quarterly Shareholder Letter that contains the complete financial results for the fourth quarter and full fiscal year 2014, which ended March 29, as well as the company's current business outlook.

"Cirrus Logic is entering into FY15 with a robust pipeline of innovative products, a compelling roadmap pairing our best in class hardware with embedded SoundClear(R) software and solid relationships with leading players in our target markets," said Jason Rhode, president and chief executive officer. "Many of our new developments are now under way in more advanced process geometries, allowing our engineers to add meaningful signal processing capabilities to our products and significantly enhance the value we add for our customers."

Reported Financial Results - Fourth Quarter FY14

-- Revenue of $149.7 million;

-- Gross margin of 49 percent;

-- GAAP operating expenses of $53.3 million and non-GAAP operating expenses of $47.9 million; and

-- GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.20 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $0.41.

Reported Financial Results - Complete FY14

-- Revenue of $714.3 million;

-- Gross margin of 50 percent;

-- GAAP operating expenses of $201.1 million and non-GAAP operating expenses of $178.3 million; and

-- GAAP diluted earnings per share of $1.65 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of $2.69.

A reconciliation of the non-GAAP charges is included in the tables accompanying this press release.

Business Outlook - First Quarter FY15

-- Revenue is expected to range between $135 million and $155 million;

-- Gross margin is expected to be between 47 percent and 49 percent; and

-- Combined R&D and SG&A expenses are expected to range between $57 million and $62 million, which includes approximately $7 million in share-based compensation and amortization of acquired intangibles.

Reported Financial Results -- Second Quarter FY14

-- Revenue of $190.7 million;

-- GAAP operating expenses of $48.8 million and non-GAAP operating expenses

In 18k shares on Friday ave cost $17.38. Will wait till new Ipad announced unless I get 10-15% out of it within next week trading back and forth... I think the recent low margin announcement is done on purpose to buy back shares as low as possible. Wait few weeks to see some upgrades and painting a ROSY picture all over again.

(CRUS, $19.30, -$2.77, -12.55%) adjusted its business model for a lower gross margin view, citing increased pricing pressures in the smartphone market, according to an investor presentation in a regulatory filing. Cirrus also said that revenue for the fiscal year is likely to be affected by an expected decline in average selling prices.

Hi SS. Well, going by the weekly chart for CRUS you can see that 3 weeks ago the 'weekly' low was 17.33... The next 'weekly' low (from 2 weeks ago) was 17.36... Sort of a double bottom... That right there was a good sign... But then it got better when this past week's low was 18, AND we had a weekly 'close' ABOVE the 'high' from the week before...

Great signs if you ask me... Not to mention Friday's crossing of the 20 day moving average on the 'daily' chart AND a close above it!...
To me it looks like the weekly MACD is turning positive as well.

I feel we'll see a push towards the 23.60 area in the next week or two.

Got my CRUS May $21 Calls for an average of .2792 (LOL), so we'll see what happens.
