I used to spam RB, but I have never spammed iHub. I could care less about RB, but when it comes to iHub, I hate iHub spammers because I know this is a semi-high quality place to post.

I am somewhat puzzled by your apparent contradictory statements on the issue.
For Example:

In the first you claim to be a purveyor of canned meat products and seem to pat yourself on the back for circumventing efforts to stop you from spewing said canned meat products.
In the second (and in several other messages) you appear to be vehemently opposed to the distribution of canned meat products as practiced by other competing purveyors of canned meat products.

Please state for the record your real stand on this issue. Unless of course your stand is that it is OK for you but not anyone else.

We had several ironclad rules.

One was: if you whine, you don't get it.

Even if you could have had it if you had asked nicely, once you whine about it, that's it.

Cured the whining problem completely and immediately.

I still think it's spam, and the moderators might not have a problem with it, but other members do! We've discussed it on the Jail thread a while back ago.

Just imagine how many people are not saying anything, yet still find it annoying.

The issue you are talking about has been resolved. A while ago. I took it up with all the boards he "spams" and the board moderators didn't have a problem with it. So, that's peachy with me.

I believe in a community of very different communities. One might operate totally different from its neighbor. Not all the boards on this site go by the same rulebook. Some evolve into their own commuities and thrive with their own culture. So I let that roll. As long as a nudist or Satanic colony isn't setting up shop here, I'm a pretty flexible dood.

Now if he were posting that to public stock boards (my playground), he'd be spending a longtime sweeping the floors of my jail. Because, personally, I don't like it. But, the stock boards he frequents apparently do.

Wow! The "disappearing Edit window" bug just hit me. Didn't know if that was still happening since some recent tweaks, but when I clicked to edit my previous message, the page reloaded, and I couldn't edit the message.

That's a bizarre one. And since it's so infrequent that it happens, it's going to be a bugger to track down.

Well, that's a Matt call. I'm still curious, though. Can you be more specific? By PM, if you prefer?

I try not to influence Matt very much because, frankly, I think he does the Admin thing extremely well. I absolutely do NOT over-ride him, but I do offer my opinions when I feel I should.

That said, I've always said (and wouldn't be surprised if Matt feels the same way) that the Admin role isn't really about "punishment". It's about getting people to comply with the site's rules now and in the future.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that statement was the quote of mine that's been printed in the largest font. Was in a WSJ article about me a long time ago. Appropriately so. I think it's one of the most important things for an Admin to understand.

So, in my opinion, if someone is spamming, it's not "punishment" I'd look for. If I could get them to quit spamming, then I've done my job.

Are you saying you've reported a spammer (and they really were "spamming") and they continue to do so to this day?

When I TOS a certain member for SPAM, he gets no punishment and continues to SPAM.

Interesting. I'll watch this just out of curiosity, but I'm immediately struck by the intimation that you're putting together something that'll have real "power" to make changes. It doesn't.

Matt and I pay attention to what's going on and if something's wanted, and we agree that it's a good thing, it's done.

If your new thread proves to be a popular venue for a large number of the site's members to make their thoughts known to Matt and me, then you'll have accomplished something. I think the Q&A thread already accomplishes that, though, and so will some new threads Matt and I have been discussing.

I'm not sure what else you could possibly accomplish. Neither Matt or I have appointed you to speak on behalf of the community or to represent us before the community, and I don't think the community has conferred a similar appointment on you, either. So the intimation that you can somehow force changes to the site is wrong.

I'd no sooner let you walk into my house and start re-arranging the furniture.

Does this have anything to do with it now taking two clicks to find out how many people have you Peoplemarked? <g>

That's the part of your header that drew my response. This may or may not be a good idea (open to debate), but the statement, as it stands, at this point in time, is patently inaccurate.

We recognize no such "organization" currently and prefer, instead, the more open, free-style method of just whining at us in public or PM. And I can't help but somehow resent your taking it upon yourself to declare the existence of such an "organization" and the insinuation that Matt and I are unresponsive to the community but will be responsive to your organization.

No idea what its needed for. But it is Joe, so I'm curios what it turns out to be.

I was just making sure it wasn't some board setup to cause a ruckus.

What the heck do we need a union for? Unions are organized to settle disputes between management and workers when management has become unresponsive. First off, we aren't workers and secondly you aren't unresponsive. But whatever. I guess there might be a need for some posters to voice their greivances.
