The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 4552 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read: 8 § 4552. General requirements for school << buses>>

Use of seat check reminder device.--Every school shall be equipped with a seat check reminder device of a type 12 that has been approved by regulation adopted by the department. 13 The device shall be mounted in the inside rear of the << bus>> and 14 shall be activated when the vehicle ignition is turned to the 15 off position. The seat check reminder device is mandated 16 according to the following schedule: 1 (1) School << buses>> may be equipped with and use an 2 approved seat check reminder device on January 1, 2006. 3 (2) Every school << bus>> purchased and manufactured after 4 January 1, 2006, shall be equipped with an approved seat 5 check reminder device. 6 (3) By September 1, 2006, every school << bus>> shall be 7 equipped with an approved seat check reminder device. Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
