Longford Corporation LFD.v

I found these guys while looking at some other stuff.
They have a Mannville prospect in the Corbett Creek area (same vicinity as Nexen's project I believe) and they have a jv in Alabama .

Moundville, Ala.

In Moundville, Ala., Longford has agreed to farm in to a 5,000-acre CBM project, with the option to acquire a further 20,000 acres. The pipeline, road and well site infrastructure already exists from the previous development of a deeper horizon and is available for use immediately. There are four to six coal intervals from 1,000 to 2,500 feet that are of interest and they have exhibited gas contents ranging from 100 to 400 standard cubic feet (scf) per ton of coal.

A five-well pilot program will be initially undertaken to earn a 50-per-cent spacing unit working interest. Thereafter, Longford will have the option to drill a further 15 wells prior to May 31, 2007, and earn an 80-per-cent working interest in the Moundville project.

Cedar Cove, an offsetting analogue field to the Moundville prospect, had 100 wells with peak rates of 200 thousand cubic feet per day per well and ultimate reserves of one billion cubic feet per well. In the Moundville prospect, a total coal thickness of 42 feet (13 metres) is anticipated with an average gas content of 257 standard cubic feet per ton. This equates to a gas in place volume of 9.5 billion cubic feet per section and average 1.9 billion cubic feet per well, with an ultimate recoverable gas volume of 1.9 billion cubic feet per section and an average 0.4 billion cubic feet per well based on a five-spot vertical well development.

Some of you guys are more interested in the US plays, this one might be of interest to you.
If anyone follows up on it perhaps you could share your DD.

LFD has a bit of conventional oil & gas production courrently:
Longford Corp. holds a 100-per-cent interest in four operated wells in the Alder Flats area of west-central Alberta. All wells produce light- to medium-grade oil, natural gas liquids and natural gas, and are part of the Buck Lake gas gathering system. As at Dec. 31, 2005, one well was shut-in.

This fella seems like a solid addition:
Longford names Gundesen VP, COO

2006-06-01 09:20 ET - News Release

Mr. David Walters reports

LONGFORD CORPORATION APPOINTS NIELS GUNDESEN AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Longford Corp. has appointed Niels Gundesen as executive vice-president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Gundesen is a petroleum engineer with 28 years of varied experience in Canada and the United States. He was most recently employed by Apache Canada Ltd. as senior engineering adviser. In this capacity he acted as a technical expert and special project manager on Apache's new ventures. He was the reservoir engineer for Apache Canada's Corbett Creek/Barrhead coal bed methane pilot project and also Apache's early CBM project at Nevis. During this period Apache drilled and completed 350 wells and added 50 million cubic feet per day of CBM gas production.

David Walters, president and chief executive officer of Longford, comments: "Niels is a key addition to the company as we embark on two major CBM projects in Barrhead, Alta., and Moundville, Ala. His extensive background with both U.S. and Canadian operations and CBM expertise will prove extremely advantageous as we commence our CBM drilling operations in June."

Mr. Gundesen has extensive experience throughout the Western Canadian basin and has also worked in the McKenzie Valley, eastern and western Texas, the Gulf coast in Louisiana and Mississippi, the U.S. Rocky Mountains, and internationally in Cuba, the Middle East, China and the Ivory Coast.

Prior to Apache, Mr.Gundesen was vice-president of Highridge Exploration, a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company with operations in the United States and Canada. Other previous employers include Union Pacific Resources, where he worked in both Canada and the United States, D&S Petroleum Consultants and BP Canada. Mr. Gundesen is a member of APEGGA, NAPEGG, SPE, CIM and CSUG.

The Nevis CBM project is certainly viable and appears to have been developed reasonably well.

BTW I don't have a position in this stock just posting what I have found, looks rather interesting
