good artikel to rub out the "bad flair" from what happened
september 1st to trimax...

In the case of the recent subliminal campaign, Trimax Corporation was the unlucky target.

The broadband-over-powerline company is traded on the OTC Bulletin Board, a U.S.-based platform for trading stocks that are not listed on major exchanges. Once the pump and dump scheme took hold earlier this month, Trimax share prices plummeted to 18 cents, from a high of $1.59 the previous fall.

"I knew nothing about spam until it happened, other than I knew I could get cheap Viagra,' says company president Derek Pepler.
{{ nice to see he has still humor smile }}

He has since learned that many pump and dump e-mails are deliberately sent out on a Friday so company management doesn't find out about them until Monday. By that point the damage has usually been done. In Pepler's case, a friend alerted him to the scheme when he mentioned receiving an e-mail tip to invest in Trimax shares.

It took 10 days for the company to respond to all the phone calls and e-mails from people angry about receiving spam that looked like it had originated with Trimax, and from investors concerned about the security of their shares.

"We were just in damage-control. We were shocked, quite frankly,' Pepler says. "It's amazing how people fall for this stuff.'
