Here we have the wind turbines NVMG plans to buy and no one's interested?

Wind farms are big business out west. Warren Buffett's group (Mid-American Energy) has built about 500 MW of the 1000 MW in Iowa. As some may have heard, he's not known for engaging in unprofitable ventures.

The big prop turbines cost over $1 million a megawatt. Windaus says they can install 1 MW for $500,000 with much greater efficiency. In addition, these make less noise and are much less obtrusive because of a narrow profile. The Windaus machines are 6 to 15 feet high and can be stacked nine to a tower for 1 megawatt. Since they are individual units stacked up to several hundred feet this means some would be spinning nearly all the time, meaning almost continuous power (though varying in output):

They are very light, made of composites and can stand up to uv sun, salt, etc. They work in water as well. They can be put in a stream or tidal area.

Indian reservations are the second biggest landowners in the US, with lots of open land.

Here's a map of current US windpower projects:

Montana has major wind farm plans.
