Kimberlite Project, Final

1) Number of Kimberlite Pipes in the World?
8,200 But the link says 6,395 but is at least 2 year old number, had to adjust for Exploration Boom! Have also seen over 5,000 in many places.
Link: http://www.darnleybay.com/diamond_project_summary%20march%2028%202002.htm

2) Percent Kimberlite Pipe is Diamondiferous Kimberlite Pipe?
14%[b/] I have also seen 1 out of 10 for 10%, but the 14% makes more mathematical sense. If I used the 10% number, then Question # 3 would be 10% instead of 7.14%, way to high.

3) Percent Diamondiferous Kimberlite Pipe is Mineable?
7.14% Derived by Dan. I have seen 4%, I have seen 1 out 20 for 5%, but 7.14% works with the other numbers, and I believe it to be a much better number.
Link: From the other links.

4) Percent Kimberlite Pipe is Mineable
1% I have read this number in many places
Link: http://www.wsgsweb.uwyo.edu/metals/legis_rep.asp

This gives us 82 Diamondiferous Kimberlite Pipes that are Mineable.

Grand Total: 82 Diamondiferous Kimberlite Pipes Being Mined

Note: Special thanks to Deann, A2Gems, Ralph, and others!

Note: Small Operators & Artisans have 0 pipes, they are not getting their Diamonds from Pipes themselves! Alluvial, dirt, diamond mines are Diamondiferous Kimberlite Pipes that washed away and they are mining the dirt. Marine is also just processing the sand.

Note: Kimberlite pipes always occur in cluster!
