Intel "TDP" -- what a joke! No wonder they haven't disclosed Prescott Max Power yet.

-------------------------------

Prescott PCs use 80 more watts at full power than Athlon 64 PCs!

This is actual PC power consumption (not sure what case/PS is used) when a Radeon 7000 video card (not gaming) is used. Numbers are higher for a gaming card, but the differential remains. http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/processorsmemory/0,39024...

Table from the ZD Net UK (CNQ=Cool'N'Quiet enabled):
Motherboard...................CPU..............CNQ..Idle (no load)..Maximum (full load)
Asus P4C800.............Prescott 3.2.........n/a.........114..........192
Asus P4C800.............Northwood 3.2......n/a.........76.5........144
Intel D875PBZ............Prescott 3.2.........n/a.........96.9........188
Intel D875PBZ............Northwood 3.2......n/a.........62.7........127
Asus K8V DLX...........Athln64 3400+......71.7.......113..........119
Asus K8V DLX...........Athln64 3200+......70.6.......106..........115
FujitsuSiemensD1607 Athlon 64 3400+....65.........107..........114
FujitsuSiemensD1607 Athlon 64 3200+....62.........101..........105

BTW, the author states that it is a problem that motherboard manufacturers do not yet support all of the AMD chip’s power saving modes. However, checking Asus, ECS, MSI and Shuttle, I did not find one motherboard that doesn't support C'N'Q. A few didn't start support until their second BIOS.
