Paradigm Announces the Development of a Next Generation Personal Location Device - PLD - Utilizing SiRF's GPS Chipsets

TUESDAY , FEBRUARY 26, 2002 07:59 AM

TORONTO, Feb 26, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Eduardo Guendelman, President & CEO of Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:PRAV), confirmed today that the company was working on a next generation of Personal Location Devices (PLDs) expected to be launched in Q2/02, which integrates GPS chipsets from SiRF Technology, Inc.

"For some time emergency response workers have recognized the need for improved technology to identify the physical location of people in emergencies. While some such devices currently exist, they tend to be heavy and cumbersome. The new generation of PLDs that we are developing based on SiRF's GPS technology features a much higher degree of miniaturization while offering enhanced performance and reliability," Guendelman said.

"With an aging population the growing incidents of Alzheimer's and related disassociative diseases increase the demand for easily worn or easily carried devices. As well, many parents want to know where their young children are in a day and age of increased mobility and urbanization. Correctional services departments at the federal, state, provincial and municipal levels are seeking enhanced methods to monitor certain parolees and those whose sentences do not require incarceration. There are emergency management and emergency medical services as well as military applications for such PLDs, also," noted Yoram Shalmon, Paradigm's Project Manager for the World Trade Center disaster recovery project.

Kanwar Chadha, founder and vice president of marketing for SiRF Technology, said "We are delighted to be working with a company as innovative and creative as Paradigm Advanced Technologies on this and other advanced wireless location mobile products. It is a special honour to know that Paradigm's products using our technology are helping efforts in the World Trade Center disaster recovery project."
