Garth Hudson - keyboards/sax - b. August 2, ca 1943, London, Canada - formerly with Paul London and the Kapers and Ronnie Hawkins' Hawks.
Rick Danko - bass/viola/vocals - b. December 9, 1943, Simcoe, Canada; d. December 10, 1999 - formerly with Ronnie Hawkins' Hawks.
Levon Helm - drums/vocals/mandolin - b. May 26, 1940, Marvell, Arkansas - formerly with The Jungle Bush Beaters and Ronnie Hawkins' Hawks.
