OT - SUN

Some SSB Comments to the new SUN annoucements. Seems like this
firm doesn't like anything from AMD. wink

"
...
Beginning in October 2004, customers will be able to purchase
access to clusters of Sun Fire V20z two-way and V40z four-way Opteron-based servers
(with SPARC to follow) at a fixed price of $1 per processor per hour.

(we knew that ...)
...

The company will offer a 50%
discount on Solaris licenses for customers migrating from Linux. In addition, customers will be able to trade in existing Intel Xeon-based servers for up to $1,250 in credit towards the
purchase of Sun Opteron-based systems.
...
While Sun sells both Xeon- and Opteron-based servers, Sun's new trade-in offer (significant
credits toward the purchase of Opteron-based systems when customers trade in Xeon-based
systems) clearly reveals the company’s X86 processor of choice. The addition of four-way
Opteron-based servers and Opteron-based workstations also demonstrates Sun’s expanding
commitment to the platform.
...
We therefore reiterate our 3S (Sell) rating and $3 twelve-month price
target for SUNW shares.

(Do you read the same? Crazy stuff)
