Born March 12, 1948, Boston, Massachusetts.

Columbia Records will open the vaults of one of America's greatest musical treasures on November 7 with the release of Greatest Hits Volume 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to one of the most successful recordings in history, James Taylor's Diamond Award certified Greatest Hits.

Greatest Hits Volume 2 features 16 classic songs spanning Taylor's work on Columbia Records from 1977 to 1997, tracks drawn from two decades of musical highlights being made available at the end of a year that has seen Taylor's induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

Greatest Hits Volume 2 showcases much of Taylor's best work--from his 1977 double-platinum debut album for Columbia Records, JT, to his 1997 Best Pop Album Grammy Award-winning Hourglass, which included "Another Day," "Little More Time With You," and "Enough To Be On Your Way," music that showcases Taylor's introspective songwriting, rich vocal stylings and adroit guitar phrasings.

"Secret O' Life," "Handy Man," "Your Smiling Face," "Only A Dream In Rio" and other classic tracks that have left an indelible imprint on the hearts and minds of fans all over the world are included on Greatest Hits Volume 2. Also featured are "Up On The Roof," "Her Town Too," and "That's Why I'm Here."

There are also tracks from his 1979 Columbia release Flag, his third Columbia album, 1981's Dad Loves His Work, the 1985 platinum release, That's Why I'm Here (Taylor's first record to produce three Top Ten adult contemporary hits), and 1991's New Moon Shine.

Over the course of his career, James Taylor has earned 40 gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards for a timeless catalog running from 1970's Sweet Baby James to 1997's Hourglass to 1998's platinum-selling Live At The Beacon Theatre DVD/VHS release. Taylor's first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA's newly-created Diamond Award, given for sales in excess of 10 million units in the United States. For his extraordinary achievements, James Taylor has been honored with the 1998 Century Award, Billboard magazine's highest accolade, bestowed for distinguished creative achievement.
