More on Red Storm

Sandia, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and Oak Ridge National Lab are buying XT3s. Cray says it's shipped 10 teraflops to Sandia so far. Red Storm is supposed to be a 40-teraflops $90 million system when fully installed. It will have 11,000 Opterons and 240TB of storage.

The Oak Ridge system, due to be installed next year, will do 20 teraflops to begin and expand to 100 teraflops in 2006 and 250 teraflops peak in 2007. Pittsburgh's in for a 10-teraflops systems initially.
