it's difficult, since many folks are "hidden" behind their ISPs....their ISP gives them a new IP each time they login (unless they keep their router/cable modem always on, in that case they'll have the same ip until they reboot or restart their router/cable modem). When Matt states he can determine a person IP, i am pretty sure that this is the IP he is referring to. (so, hint: in that previous description...is how to get away with having two aliases. Of course, i have never tried it :), and that's the truth.)

Anyway, you would not be able to determine this ip unless you get that person to come at you via HTTP (which is what we all do when we log in to IHUB, hence Matt knowing our IP we are using) or if you slip a trojan on their system. You may also be able to determine that IP by inspecting their email..but even that is difficult today.

If you really must, there are "scanners" out there that searches for holes in computers hooked up to the net...but here, you are not targetting anyone person in particular, you are looking for anyone to pick on.

if you want to see just how EXPOSED your are via HTTP, go here (https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2) and run their tests (Shields Up). If you ever wonder how just visiting a site can lead to tons of spam, then depending on the result of the test...you'll know why.

On the other hand, if you defeat SHields UP, you are in good shape.
