To the PBLS longs/I have just finished a two day visit with Ron, & Paul and met many of the staff at the Phoenix office. Ron picked me up up at the airport as I had just made a long flight from my home in Hong Kong, with 3 stops along the way. I am now at DFW airport in Dallas, and must run for the gate to get my flight to LAX and Hong Kong tonight.

My trip was long but well worth it. I'll post more after getting back to Hong Kong. What I can say now is I was very impressed and will be adding another 2 million shares.
More later.

mastercreaf7/With regards to your comments about the Army Corp of Engineers, the day that Johnny Zornes was taking me on a drive through Murphy Sand & Gravel, he mentioned that someone from the Army Corp Of Engineers had called him, and they were to meet the next day, as the Army Corp was interested in getting sand and gravel from them, as they are about 15 miles closer that the competition's pit. I was also taken to see the competition's pit some 15 miles further away. Let's hope that they can make a deal.

Now from the Jan.1 2006 article. From The Times-Picayune..
http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/frontpage/index.ssf?/base/news-4/1136101328176420.xml

Last week Congress approved a $29 billion hurricane recovery package for new spending on hurricane protection in Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states clobbered by Katrina.

Corps officials have estimated that as much as $2.9 billion of that could be earmarked for the New Orleans region, most of it for levee improvements to include stepped-up levee construction in St. Charles Parish and West Jefferson, where levee-building started years later than in Orleans Parish and East Jefferson.

Funding was approved last week or so of December......

and the Corps has 5 months to get it done.

Corps fighting clock to fix levees
Can the Army Corps of Engineers restore the levees to at least pre-Katrina strength in the five months before the next hurricane season kicks in?
"It won't be pretty or permanent, but it will work," Bea said, "and it can be done by June 1."

Implications for PBLS.....The Murphy pit is close to the location of the levee rebulding project, we have access to trucks to move the material from orgin to destination, we have a truck scale at orgin to accurately weigh and record materials shipped to destination, we have a long-standing working relationship with Boh Bros., one of the largest contractors in the New Orleans area and Boh Bros. has a long-standing and current working relationship with the Corps, and we are a local firm with available land at the pit which could be expanded for more immediate production.

Everyone play it the way you see fit...but I think there is an Army coming over the hill and they're going to have a major impact on the PPS. Just speculation on my part, after connecting some dots. Kelly

We have the materials at our Murphy sand and gravel pit. We have access to the trucks to move it.

What the Corps doesn't have is alot of time. 5 months to fix 170 miles of levees.

Task force on the move

That 145-member task force already is on the ground in the New Orleans area, knee-deep in its mission to fix 170 miles of damaged or destroyed levees and canal floodwalls, more than half of the corps-supervised hurricane protection system, before the 2006 storm season blows in.

It's going to be balls against the walls..24/7.

Private money also flowing into the New Orleans area..

Retail center gets OK, big-box stores and all
Decision disappoints hundreds at meeting

St. Tammany bureau
To the dismay and disappointment of more than 300 Covington-area residents, the St. Tammany Parish Council on Thursday night gave the green light to the construction of a $200 million retail center south of the city.

The developers also are pledging $7.5 million to $8 million to improve the Louisiana 21 corridor, changes that computer models show will greatly improve traffic flow, Buras said.

The improvements also call for the developers to help pay for a $2.4 million parish project to convert the rest area into a second interchange for the interstate. All of the improvements must be completed before the center can open, Buras said.

Almost $10 million for roadwork improvements and another interstate interchange because of the developement.

Hmmmm.... More fill materials and concrete needs...LOL Murphy sand and gravel is nicely positioned.

trythisagain..

That's the point I'm making with all this local news, from the funds appropiated by Congress for levee rebuild and repair to even the private investments coming into the area....all this work is going to require tremendous amounts of sand and gravel!!

Levees..road bases..bridge approach elevations..concrete mixes..all will need some sand and/or gravel in huge amounts.

I would hazzard to say that our soil and mineral asset base in the Murphy pit..valued at $260-$300 million is worth considerable more than that present day.

Murphy Sand & Gravel division (820 acres)-- Reserves estimated at $260 million (more recent company materials also show $300 million, like the Sept. 6, 2005 PR).

Even using the full A/S as share count and the Murphy assets at only $300 million..that's .30 per share asset value..for Murphy alone!! No Progas..no oil assets..no construction business or other assets..Just Murphy sand and gravel!!! At conservative estimate.

And it's not like the materials aren't in demand..the demand will outstrip supplies IMO. Cheers, Kelly

Last update we had on the the S&G/construction side of the business was this insert on Nov. 3rd.....Paul Alonzo, President and CEO of Phoenix, stated, "We are very pleased with the rapid growth of Mid-South/Rome Oil & Gas. Additionally our sand, gravel and construction businesses continue to grow daily."

Anyone else think that we may hear more about that side of PBLS in the very near future???? Cheers, Kelly
